Arsenal’s mistakes at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday led to a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat against Manchester City in the Premier League.

The Gunners had taken the lead just before half-time through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s clinical, low effort from just inside the area.

However, Arsenal allowed City back into the game within two minutes of the restart when Raheem Sterling unleashed a powerful effort that cannoned off Rob Holding for an own goal.

City then got their winner in the 71st minute when David Luiz could only head a Nicolas Otamendi cross into the path of Gabriel Jesus, who finished expertly from close range.

Arsenal had chances late on, and Alexandre Lacazette’s effort from a Reiss Nelson cross was cleared off the line by Kyle Walker.

The defeat means Arsenal stay in fifth place, and now sit nine points off fourth-placed Chelsea in the race for Champions League qualification.
