DAY 4 – 30 Day Declutter Challenge – Part 2 KIDS ROOM

Shopify 60 day trial
Today’s challenge is to declutter the kids’ room. Start by going through all the toys, clothes and other items and get rid of anything that is broken, too small or old fashion. Put away all clothes that are out of season and donate those that no longer fit. Donate, sell or trash any unused, unnecessary and outdated items. By the end of the day you should have a much more organized and clutter free space.
What are some ideas for decluttering a kids’ room?
-
Create a designated “utility zone” – Have a corner or shelf that acts as a central “hub” for all items that your child will use routinely—books, backpacks, hats, scarves, art supplies, etc. Everything should have a designated spot.
-
Establish “giving boxes” – If your child has outgrown certain toys or clothes, create clearly labeled “giving boxes” so they can start gaining an understanding of the concept of giving back to their community and not holding on to things they no longer need.
-
Stick to one color scheme – Pick a color palette for your child’s room and purchase all storage bins and accessories in the same shade. This will create a visually pleasing environment and make it easier to keep items organized.
-
Maximize available storage space – Make sure to use all vertical wall space with shelves and wall organizers, and consider out-of-the-way nooks for toy storage.
-
Encourage daily tidying – Teach your kid good organizational habits by teaching them to clean up each day. A few minutes spent organizing at the end of each day can go a long way in saving you time in the long run.
